Fundudzi by Craig Jacobs - DFF

Craig Jacob's collection was uber cool and totally mod. Floral prints were used in a less conventional way - instead of being floaty and soft, floral fabric was used in more tailored, structured pieces.

I loved the shoes and quirky socks worn by Craig Jacobs (left) and Chu Suwannapha (right) at the DFF so much so that I had to get a pic!

Florals has a botanical quality about them and were used to create tailored, almost masculine pieces - very fresh approach!

Craig Jacob's collection was made up of a colour palette of nudes, soft aquas pale greens and punchy purples.

Birthday dinner

I wanted to wear something simple and unfussy to my birthday dinner celebration. When I saw this black and white number, I knew it would be perfect. I loved that it has that 'I threw this thing on and it just happens to look fab!'look.

I have a little obsession with pockets in dresses and skirts - loving this dress more and more!! I can see this becoming a favourite because of the flattering length and silhouette. I can tell I'm going to have tons of fun with this little frock, styling options are endless . . .that calls for another post.

I kept accessories to a minimum. I wore nothing on my wrists or around the neck. These aqua-turquoise drop earrings added a bit of punch to the black and white dress.

For a pop of fun, I paired the dress with hot pink heels and a bright pink bag with a gold chain detail - effortless chic!

Opening night of the DFF

I was all too happy to spend my birthday night at opening of the Durban Fashion Fair (DFF) held at the Durban Exhibition Centre.

The DFF is a bit different to Fashion Week in that pop up stores are set up, giving fashion, accessory and jewellry designers and boutique owners a platform to showcase their wares to show goers. It was also quite nice being able to browse through the pop up shops between fashion shows.

It's my birthday!

I was awoken by the howling wind in the early hours of my birthday yesterday morning. My aunt joked that it was winds of change, this was confirmed in the astrology forecast of the Mercury,"If today is your birthday: another personal year has arrived and you could soon find yourself traversing a new footpath into the future. Change is strongly indicated, so commence this dawning 12 months with a resolution to be adaptable, versatile and flexible." . . . so change must be on the cards   :-p

It was an icy day, my least favourite weather. But I decided not to let the weather get me down, so pulled on a pair of fleece-lined stockings, courtesy of my sister living in Korea and built an outfit around that.
